Favela United Tour was born from the desire to share the real Rocinha — not through headlines or stereotypes, but through lived experience, connection, and community. Created and led entirely by local residents, our project is more than a tour. It’s a bridge between worlds.
We exist to tell our own stories, from our own voices. Rocinha is often misunderstood from the outside. What many don’t see is a place full of creativity, strength, resilience, and solidarity. Yes, there are challenges — but there is also joy, innovation, art, and powerful local culture thriving in every alley and on every rooftop.
Our work is to shift perspectives. By welcoming visitors into our daily lives, we show the human side of the favela — one filled with complexity, warmth, and dignity. Every guide you’ll meet is from the community. They are artists, activists, students, entrepreneurs, and storytellers. Through walking tours, conversations, and spontaneous moments along the way, you’ll gain insight not only into the geography of the favela, but into its soul.
We don’t offer “poverty tourism.” We offer respect, truth, and exchange. Our tours are intentionally small, personal, and focused on mutual understanding. Every step you take with us helps support local initiatives, small businesses, and youth programs that empower future generations in Rocinha.

We share real stories, strengthen the community’s economy, and celebrate the living culture of the favela — breaking stereotypes with respect and authenticity.
